Everyone is unique and interdisciplinary in their own ways!

What is knowledge society? A knowledge society is one in which the development and creative application of knowledge is the primary engine of economic growth, prosperity, and empowerment of all developing sectors of society (Robert Frodeman and Carl Mitcham 59)

The knowledge societies I would fit in perfectly would have to be the Baseball, Fitness, History and Geography sectors.

Baseball: I have been a player and student of the game ever since I was 4 years old. My dad taught me in the backyard and I have played for nearly 16 years. I have played for organizations all over the United States. I have been blessed to have travelled all over to play some of the best competition our country has to offer. Recently, I began my coaching career to help youth players in my community grow a love for Baseball that will last them a lifetime.

Fitness: My dad has a passion for fitness, thus sparked my interest. I have gained a strong knowledge for exercising and the science behind it all. Once I began my journey, I started to eat healthier, enhanced cognitive abilities, and most importantly energized throughout the remainder of the day. Being involved in the fitness community is rewarding and has changed my life for the better. My goal is to help my friends who aren’t as active and healthy exercise more and to teach them everything I know. I will be their biggest advocate!

Geography: When I was a young boy, my grandmother gifted me with a puzzle map of the US States and Capitols. I wasn’t big into puzzles but for some reason, this one caught my eye. I began to repeatedly match each state in its correct location as well as memorize the capitals. Over time, I began to excel at international countries and capitals. I have definitely had thoughts of becoming a geography teacher since I am very passionate about it. As I casually lay in bed at near midnight, I will spew off three geography facts off the top of my head.

  1. Did you know that Russia and the United States share a border with each other? There are two islands, Big Diomede (Russia) and Little Diomede (US) which stand about 2 miles apart from each other. During the winter when the water freezes, you can physically walk from the US into Russia and vice versa. The two islands are 23 hours apart so you’d literally be time traveling. Cool stuff!
  2. Italy is home to two enclaved independent countries, San Marino and Vatican City.
  3. The city of Istanbul, Turkey is technically in both Europe and Asia!

History: When I was in the 5th grade, I began my first History class. At first I wasn’t too thrilled as I didn’t really care for history. Once the lectures began, I started to become insanely invested in every lesson. I would excel at every test with ease and always help my peers who weren’t as strong in the subject. My personal favorite piece of history is the WWII era. Like geography, I have also been debating on becoming a history teacher. I believe this subject is extremely slept on and deserves more love and attention.
